I highly recommend TKL Construction. It is rare to find a contractor who delivers on their value proposition. Troy and his team were fantastic to work with! They communicated frequently, keeping me apprised of subcontractor schedules. The timelines were honored, and my project finished ahead of schedule. I was consulted on all design and engineering choices. There were no surprises. The quality of the work was impeccable, and I am extremely happy with my room addition.

TKL Construction, Inc., completed a total remodel of our guest bathroom.  In summary, I give TKL Construction/Troy (and Linda in the back office) a “5+” rating on a scale of 0 to 5.  If you choose TKL/Troy to do your project, I believe you will be very pleased with his work and the results.  I can’t imagine any other general contractor exceeding their performance standards nor concern for the customer.

To detail, we had our guest bathroom totally gutted, then installed a new tub/shower with porcelain tile around it to the ceiling, porcelain floor tile, new cabinets with granite top, new toilet stool, remediated/refinished walls and ceiling.  Beautiful result with excellent work by all craftsmen.  But Troy Townsend, the general contractor/owner (and his wife Linda), were key to the success.  In addition to the challenging tight coordination of craftsmen, Troy kept the project on schedule and dealt with a number of troublesome problems like a special-ordered cabinet (style canceled by manufacturer) arriving crushed during shipment and needing prompt replacement from far out of state, an unusual toilet bowl with a subtle crack found on the day of scheduled install, a new style shower mixing valve ordered without the right internal parts (not easy to find), etc.  Troy was extremely helpful in materials/product recommendations/suggestions, very timely in responses to any questions/communications, demanding of excellence from each and every craftsman on their work and timeliness.  I was truly surprised by the unexpected problems that Troy had to resolve promptly and effectively during this project that were caused by shipping problems, order errors by others not under his responsibility, etc.

TKL Construction has done two major projects for us the last couple of years. The first was a complete kitchen remodel with some family room changes. The second was a shower which was leaking through to our downstairs family room. We have found the company to be honest, hardworking, dependable and reasonably priced. They always let you know when someone will be at the house working. The subcontractors that they use are also very professional and do a great job. Both jobs were finished in a timely manner. It is a pleasure to work with Troy and Linda and know that they will do their best to achieve the results that the customer is looking for. I plan to use them for future home projects.

We hired TKL Construction to do a kitchen renovation for us. I’m not good at designing and going into the project, the only thing I knew was that I wanted a wall removed in order to have an open-concept kitchen. Troy and Linda came in, looked at the project, and came up with a great design. They worked with me through each step of the renovation giving me multiple choices (cabinet design, lighting, hardware, flooring, etc.) along the way. The renovation was done in such a way to cause little to no disruption for us. The project was perfect and the layout and finished product far exceeded what I had imagined my kitchen could be. It was wonderful working with such personable people who paid attention to detail, took pride in their work, and assured that the expectations of the client were met. Should we do additional renovations, we will definitely use TKL Construction.

We really couldn't have asked for a better experience. When they say communication is important to them, they mean it. The kitchen in our newly purchased house had various issues requiring a gut renovation. We were relieved to find a company so upfront and communicative about the whole process. Aside from doing excellent work, Troy and his team handled some major curveballs (an understatement) with aplomb. We're thrilled with the results and wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.

Troy and Linda just finished our kitchen and pantry remodel. We are very pleased with the outcome. They were very patient with us as we toyed with several configuration changes and choices. They provided excellent guidance to us to arrive at an optimal choice for us. I am amazed at how they were able finish on-time even though city of Raleigh had numerous issues with their permitting process, and we even threw them a curve ball of replacing all plumbing in the house during the project! They still finished on time! Troy went out of his way to address several other issues not directly related to the remodel - for example, we wanted to save some of the old cabinets and put in the garage - he took the time to put them up for us! He helped me paint some of the walls related to the re-plumb of the house (not in the kitchen). I could go on and on. I have a friend who is doing a kitchen remodel that is going on 3 months. They can't get their contractor to call them back, etc. Don't make that mistake! Call Troy! He'll get it done. He got our remodel done in 3 weeks!

Troy from TKL has been a joy to work with. He keeps to his schedule and when things don't go according to plan, he is communicative and upfront about the work progress.   With any construction or renovation project, there will inevitably be unforeseen challenges that occur, and Troy is able to factually and effectively communicate all the steps to resolution and even brainstorm solutions.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Troy and would highly recommend him.

My experience with Troy was amazing from start to finish. I hired him to add an in-law suite and a sun room onto my existing home; overall 1100 additional square feet. He gave a very competitive quote and I was impressed with his professionalism. He completed the project in 4 months and even threw in a few upgraded features. He communicated about the project and stayed on top of everything from start to finish. This ended up being a very pleasant and easy process to undergo. I was so impressed, that I encouraged my mom to hire him for some pre sale items that needed to be completed on her home. They were able to get everything done for her in two weeks (before closing). I would recommend Troy to anyone for any size project!
